Below FAQ will help you to availing the facility of Mobile Number Portability :-

1.    What is MNP?

  • Mobile number portability (MNP) permits subscriber to retain his/her mobile number while switching from one mobile service provider to others.

2.    Is it affordable and convenient?

  • Yes, Porting chargers upto Rs. 19, this is collected by new service provider.

3.    Does it allow a technology switch?

  • You can stay with same technology GSM/CDMA. And also you can switch form GSM to CDMA or vice-versa

4.    How you can request for Porting?

  • Contact the new mobile service provider to whom you want to port mobile number.
  • Collect CFA ( Consumer Acquisition Form) and Porting form.
  • Carefully read the eligibility and other conditions.
  • Request for ‘Unique Porting Code’ by sending an SMS from your mobile number to 1900 with text ‘PORT <space><10 Digit Mobile Number you want to port >’.
  • Fill up the CAF and Porting Form with the unique code and mobile number.
  • Submit the CAF, Porting Form, Address and ID proof/ Photograph.
  • If you are a post-paid subscriber, submit a paid copy of the last bill.
  • Collect new SIM card from the new service provider.

5.    How much time it will take for Activation of ported number?

  • Porting time will take 15 working days in Jammu & Kashmir, Assam and North East service areas and 7 working days in rest of India.

6.    How frequently you can change service provider and what are the conditions?

  • Your are allowed to move another mobile service provider only after 90 days of the date of activation of your mobile number connection or from the date last porting/switching of your mobile number, which ever is applicable.
  • If  you are a post-paid subscriber then ensure that you have paid all the dues as per your last bill.
  • If you are a pre-paid subscriber then your balance amount of talk time, if any , will lapse at the time of porting.

7.    Can you retain same mobile number in other city?

  • NO, you are allowed to change within the same service-area (circle)
